Description
An abdominal binder is a wide band that wraps the abdomen and applies even compression to the trunk. The 26 cm height means the binder covers the abdominal wall over a sufficient span; a narrower band concentrates pressure on a single line, which is why it is not preferred for post-operative support. The breathable perforated elastic fabric reduces sweating during long wear, while the gimped elastic lets the binder hug the trunk without losing its stretch. It is used where postural support is needed after surgery or childbirth and for abdominal stabilisation. Size is selected by measuring waist circumference, with the 72-134 cm range divided into six sizes. After surgery, your doctor should decide when and for how many hours a day the binder is worn; if there is pain or discharge at the wound site, have it checked before use.
