Description
A dorsolumbar corset gives broad trunk support reaching from the upper back down to the sacral region. Steel stays across the back hold the trunk upright while the sacral section anchors the lower edge; together they provide stabilisation in postural changes such as increased kyphosis and lordosis. The thin breathable monofilament fabric does not trap sweat or odour, and wearing the corset over a vest makes it more comfortable. It is used on medical advice for trunk support in osteoporosis, hemiplegia, Parkinson's disease, ALS, cerebral palsy and spina bifida. Five sizes are offered — S, M, L, XL and XXL — chosen by measuring waist circumference with a tape. If support is only needed at the lower back, a lumbosacral or lumbostad corset is the more suitable option.
