Description
The FS-209AE-61 is built for users who do not fit a standard 40–46 cm seat. Seat width is not only a comfort question: a chair that is too narrow raises the risk of pressure injury on the hips and outer thighs, while one that is too wide lets the user lean sideways and strains the shoulders. Measure across the widest point of the hips with the user seated and add 2–3 cm. The frame is powder-coated steel; steel is heavier than aluminium but gives the strength a wide frame needs. Because the armrests come off, transfers can be made sideways from a bed — with larger users, lifting forward puts serious strain on the carer's back, so a sideways slide is the safer method. The legrests elevate, bringing the legs to horizontal, which extends comfortable sitting time for users with swelling in the lower legs. The chair folds, but wide models need a doorway check: measure the narrowest door opening at home before ordering.
