Description
A patient lift is a mechanical device for moving someone who cannot stand unaided from a bed to a wheelchair, toilet or shower chair. The FS-AU5777 works on a hand-pumped hydraulic ram, needs no electricity, and lifts through repeated strokes of the pump handle. Its real value in home care is protecting the carer's back: manual lifting of an adult is the leading cause of back injury among family carers and often the point at which care at home stops being sustainable. The leg spread on the base adjusts — open the legs to pass around a wheelchair or toilet, close them to move through a narrow corridor. Follow the device's own manual regarding the rear castor brakes during a lift; some designs require the hoist to be free to shift slightly as it raises. The sling must be chosen for the user's weight and the amount of trunk support they need — the wrong sling size is a greater risk than the hoist itself.
