Description
A hot water bottle is the classic way of applying heat to aching muscles and joints, most often to the lower back, the upper back and the abdomen. This model has a ribbed body holding 2 litres and comes with a fleece fabric cover. The cover does more than make it pleasant to hold — it keeps the hot surface from touching the skin directly, which is why the bottle should never be used without it. Fill it to no more than two thirds with hot water and do not use boiling water; a completely full bottle is under pressure and can leak at the neck. Before every use, check that the stopper seals and that the body has no punctures or cracks. Heat should not be applied without medical advice over areas with reduced sensation, on a diabetic foot, or to anyone who is not fully conscious, because of the risk of burns.
