Description
Roll gauze is the basic material of any dressing: it covers the wound, absorbs exudate and holds the dressing above it in place. Because it comes as a roll you cut only the length you need, which is both more economical than individually wrapped compresses and more flexible across different wound sizes. The weave is absorbent and breathable, so moisture is carried away from the wound rather than trapped against it. A 100-metre roll is a practical quantity for a surgery, a clinic or a household doing frequent dressing changes. Roll gauze is not a sterile material; where a sterile field is required, use individually packed sterile compresses instead. Once opened, keep the roll closed and protected from dust and damp.
