Description
Imicryl SC is a PMMA-based cold-cure acrylic used for denture repairs and adjustments. Once powder and liquid are mixed it polymerises on its own at room temperature, so fractured dentures, base additions and relines can be handled chairside or in the laboratory without a flask or heat cure. The mix reaches dough consistency in 4 to 8 minutes, stays workable for about 20 minutes and completes polymerisation in 10 minutes, which sets the pace for how the case is planned. The powder has a homogeneous particle size and is cadmium free; the liquid is based on methyl methacrylate monomer. The material is produced to BS 2484 (Type II, Class III), carries CE marking and has been biocompatibility tested. Because the monomer is volatile, work in a ventilated area and keep the liquid tightly closed and cool. This 100 g powder plus 50 ml liquid pack suits low-volume laboratory work and student use.
