Knee Support with Ligament Stabilisation

Description

This neoprene knee support is designed to limit sideways opening of the knee and so reduce the strain carried by the collateral ligaments. What separates it from a plain compression sleeve is the pair of spiral stays set into each side: they allow the knee to bend and straighten while resisting sideways stress. It is therefore used for support in minor ligament insufficiency, in the inflammatory period after trauma or surgery, in patellar problems, in rheumatoid joint inflammation and in degenerative joint change. Adjustable hook-and-loop straps at the top and bottom let you set the tension separately at each end, a clear fit advantage over one-piece sleeves for people whose thigh and calf circumferences differ markedly. The section over the kneecap is reinforced with a special material. Size is chosen by knee circumference: Small 30–33 cm, Medium 33–36 cm, Large 36–39 cm, X-Large 39–42 cm and XX-Large 42–45 cm; take the measurement with the knee slightly bent. Do not overtighten the straps, and loosen them if the leg feels numb or changes colour. This product provides support; it does not heal a ligament injury.
