Description
This curing light is used to polymerise light-cured composite restorations, bonding agents and fissure sealants. Its blue LED source activates the photoinitiator in the material so it sets in the mouth. The quality of the cure depends directly on the distance and angle of the light guide, so the tip should be held as close as possible and perpendicular to the surface, and deep restorations should be cured in increments. The optical tip is detachable for sterilisation; composite residue on the tip cuts light output, so it should be checked after every use. The orange shield supplied with the unit protects the eyes of the operator and assistant from the intense blue light and should always be used. On rechargeable units a low battery can reduce output, so keeping the unit charged is part of routine care.
