Description
The Thera-Band resistance band is one of the most widely used tools in physiotherapy and home exercise programmes. In its colour-coded system the darker the band, the higher the resistance: tan and yellow are the lightest, while black, silver and gold are the heaviest steps. That graded structure lets you progress to the next colour as you get stronger. Unlike free weights, an elastic band loads the muscle throughout the whole range of motion and does not create a sudden peak load on the joint, which is why it is favoured after injury and surgery. Check the band for tears, thinning or stickiness before each use, and store it in a cool place out of direct sunlight. Your physiotherapist or doctor should decide which colour and which exercise programme suit you.
