Description

The bulb is the rubber ball you squeeze to inflate the cuff on a manual blood pressure set, and the screw valve on its neck is what lets you release the air under control. Rubber hardens and cracks with age, at which point the cuff inflates slowly or will not hold pressure at all. The valve has its own common fault: once the screw seizes, air either dumps all at once or refuses to fall, which makes a reading unusable. Since a correct measurement needs the pressure to fall at roughly 2–3 mmHg per second, being able to adjust the valve smoothly matters as much as the bulb itself. This spare is the most economical way to renew a set whose gauge and cuff are still sound. Before ordering, check that the tube diameter and valve connection match your set, as fittings differ between manufacturers.
