Description
A mesh arm sling supports the arm at 90 degrees at the elbow and takes the load off the shoulder and arm. The perforated mesh lets air through, so it does not trap sweat or odour — a clear advantage in hot weather and during long wear. It fits over a plaster cast, which is why it is often chosen after a fracture. The adjustable strap sets the height of the sling for each user; the right height matters because it keeps the wrist from hanging below the hand. The sling comes in sizes and should be matched to the length of the forearm. If a closed cotton sling is preferred, choose the classic arm sling; if the shoulder also needs immobilising, a Velpeau bandage is worth considering.
