Description
Circumcision underwear is worn during the healing period after the procedure to protect the area from outside contact. The most common problem in this period is the child pressing on the area while turning in sleep or playing; the ergonomic plastic guard sewn into the front of the garment works like a dome, keeping clothing and bedding off the wound. The child sleeps more comfortably as a result, and the dressing is less likely to be displaced. The fabric is 100% cotton, which allows air exchange over the healing area and avoids trapped perspiration better than synthetic fabrics. Sizes are chosen by weight: no. 1 for 5–12 kg, no. 2 for 13–20 kg and no. 3 for 21–36 kg. In the correct size the guard sits directly over the area; in underwear that is too small the plastic part shifts position and no longer serves its purpose. Change and wash the garment daily. Follow your child's doctor's instructions on dressing changes, bathing and medication, and seek medical advice if you see redness, discharge or fever.
