Description
A mattress protector sheet is a reusable cover laid over the mattress under the bed sheet to shield it from fluids and soiling. This 160×200 cm size fits a standard double bed. The protection comes from a membrane layer beneath the fabric: liquid stays on the surface instead of soaking into the mattress. Because a mattress cannot be washed, and fluid that reaches it brings odour and mildew, a protector effectively decides how long the mattress lasts for someone with incontinence, a bedbound patient or a person recovering from surgery. It machine washes up to 60 °C and tumble dries on low heat; higher drying temperatures can damage the membrane, so keep the heat down. Keeping a spare means the bed is never left unprotected while one is in the wash. It can be used together with disposable adult pads and underpads.
