Description
Body washing sponges are a single-use product for cleaning patients in bed when they cannot be taken to a bathroom. The fibre is impregnated with neutral soap; add a few drops of water and it lathers, so no separate soap or shower gel is needed. The foam is spread over the area to be cleaned, the body is washed with a rubbing motion, and the sponge is discarded afterwards. Its fibre structure traps dirt and dead skin inside the sponge, which matters in bedbound care because it stops soil being carried from one area to another on a reused cloth. The pH is 5.5, close to the skin's natural pH, which reduces dryness on skin that is cleaned frequently. The area is left clean and moist after use. The product is not sterile and should not be used over open wounds or dressing sites. Each pack contains 20 sponges, and every sponge is single-use.
