Description
A condom catheter is an external urinary catheter used to manage incontinence in male patients. Because nothing enters the bladder, the risk of urinary infection is lower than with an indwelling Foley catheter, so it is preferred for men who empty the bladder adequately but cannot hold urine. The sheath is rolled onto the penis and the connector at its tip attaches to a urine bag. Choosing the right size is the most critical point with this product: a sheath that is too tight restricts circulation and damages the skin, while one that is too wide slips and leaks. Three sizes are therefore offered — M at 25 mm, L at 30 mm and XL at 35 mm diameter. The sheath is made of soft, light latex and fits snugly without constricting. An elastic foam strap holds it in place and prevents backflow, while the long wide-bore connector improves drainage and fits standard urine bags. During manufacture the product is washed in hot water so residual chemicals do not irritate the skin. It is individually packed. Change the sheath daily, and check and dry the skin at each change; stop use and consult a healthcare professional if you notice redness or swelling.
