Description
A bed urinal is a closed-neck container that lets someone pass urine in bed when reaching the toilet is not possible or not advisable. This model is made of plastic; it is light enough for the patient to hold unaided and can be kept at the bedside. The opening suits both men and women. After hip surgery, during a period in a cast, or when night-time urination is frequent, not having to get up each time noticeably reduces the risk of falls. It is washable rather than single-use: rinsing thoroughly after every use and washing it with detergent and drying it at least once a day prevents odour build-up. Using a mattress protector or underpad alongside the urinal is sensible in case of spills.
