FS-920 Single-Point Walking Cane (Grey)

Description

A single-point cane is the most widely used walking aid for people with mildly reduced balance; it shifts part of the body weight onto the stronger side and makes each step more secure. The FS-920 is a single-tip balance cane and, used correctly, supports the user without slowing the walking pace. Hold it in the hand opposite the weaker leg and move it forward at the same time as that leg, so the load goes to the right side. To check the length, stand upright and let the arm hang loose: the handle should meet the crease of the wrist. A cane that is too long lifts the shoulder and causes shoulder pain; one that is too short tips the body forward and works against balance. Because the rubber tip is the cane's only contact with the ground, replace it at the first sign of wear. If you need a wider base of support, look at the four-footed FS-921, FS-932 or FS-9414; if you want something that folds away, at the FS-927.
