FS-925 Underarm Crutches

Description

Underarm crutches transfer a large share of body weight to the arms when a leg cannot be loaded — after a fracture, surgery or while in a cast. The FS-925 comes in three sizes, each adjustable in steps within its own range, which covers users from children to tall adults. Correct adjustment matters more here than with most walking aids: leave roughly two to three fingers' gap between the underarm pad and the armpit, and carry the weight on the hand grips, not the armpit. Bearing weight through the armpit puts sustained pressure on the nerves that run through it, which is why the crutches must always be used with the hands taking the load. Set the grip height so that, with the arm hanging and slightly bent at the elbow, the grip meets the wrist. Replace the rubber tips once worn — a worn ferrule sharply increases slip risk on wet floors. The crutches are used as a pair; send us the user's height and we will advise on the right size.
