Description
The FS-9300L is an adjustable single cane for people who need light balance support. The question new cane users most often ask is which hand to hold it in: the cane goes in the hand opposite the affected leg and moves forward together with the weaker leg. That preserves the natural reciprocal rhythm of walking and puts the support where it does the most good. To set the length, have the person stand upright in their shoes with the arm hanging loose; the handle should reach the wrist crease. A cane set too long pushes the shoulder up and invites neck and shoulder pain, while one set too short causes a forward lean. The aluminium shaft is light and does not rust outdoors. Check the rubber tip regularly: once the tread is worn smooth it slips on wet surfaces and should be replaced. As balance loss progresses, a wider base — a quad cane or a walking frame — may become necessary.
