Description
A pill cutter is used when a doctor prescribes a half or quarter dose, so the tablet is divided cleanly and repeatably instead of being broken by hand. Tablets broken by hand rarely split evenly, which makes the dose taken vary — that consistency is the cutter's real benefit. Use is straightforward: open the lid, place the tablet in the cradle, and closing the lid brings the blade down to cut it. The compartment in the base stores the leftover piece so a half tablet does not get lost in a bag or pill box. The body is washable, and the cradle should be cleaned of powder residue when switching between medicines. Coated, extended-release and capsule medicines may not be safe to split; ask your pharmacist or doctor which of your medicines can be divided. The blade is sharp, so keep the cutter out of the reach of children.
