Description
A ROM walker immobilises the ankle in a controlled way while still letting the patient walk. The side hinges adjust by degrees, so the permitted range of motion can be widened in stages as healing progresses — its clearest advantage over a cast. It is used after Achilles tendon injury or rupture, following Achilles surgery, in conservative and postoperative treatment of tibial fractures, after malleolar surgery and in calcaneal fractures. Hook-and-loop straps set the tension over the leg and foot and can be readjusted as swelling subsides. Size follows shoe size, so state your shoe size when ordering. Your doctor decides which angle range to set and how long the boot is worn.
