Description
A skin traction kit is a temporary system applied to the leg to keep bone alignment and limit movement after a fracture or dislocation. It is most often used in femur and hip fractures to reduce pain and prevent deformity while the patient waits for surgery. The adhesive strap is hypoallergenic and foam-backed on the skin side, but suitability must still be judged by a doctor for patients with broken skin, circulatory problems or adhesive sensitivity. Two sizes are available, small and large, chosen according to how the strap wraps the calf. Application, the traction weight and the duration are decided by clinical staff — this is not a product to apply yourself at home.
