Description
Sterilisation pouches protect instruments during and after autoclave sterilisation. One side is steam-permeable medical paper and the other is transparent film; the paper lets steam in while the clear side lets you identify the instrument without opening the pouch. A process indicator is printed on the pouch — it changes colour after the cycle to show the pouch has been through sterilisation, and it is important to understand that this confirms the process was run, not that sterilisation was successful. This size is 10 × 27 centimetres, suited to longer hand instruments such as forceps and scissors. The pouch is closed with a self-adhesive strip; take care that sharp tips do not pierce the film when loading. Pouches are single use; after sterilisation store them somewhere dry and free of dust, and do not treat the contents of a torn or wetted pouch as sterile.
