Description
CPAP tubing carries the pressurised air the device produces to the mask, and it is one of the fastest-wearing parts of the therapy set-up. Its spiral-reinforced flexible construction is designed to stop it folding shut and cutting off airflow as you turn during sleep. One end connects to the device's air outlet, the other to the mask elbow. When buying replacement tubing, check your device's connector type and the tube diameter; standard and heated (resistance) tubing are not interchangeable, and heated tubing also needs an electrical connection to the device. Wash the tube regularly in warm water with a mild detergent and hang it out of direct sunlight until fully dry; moisture left inside encourages microbial growth. Tubing showing cracks, holes or whitening should be replaced, since it will cause pressure loss. The tube is a personal item and should not be shared.
