Description
The Mesilife AOJ-70B measures blood oxygen saturation (SpO₂) and pulse rate from the fingertip within a few seconds. Its colour OLED display can be rotated between two orientations, so the reading can face either the person wearing it or the person taking the measurement — useful for self-monitoring and for carers alike. The plethysmogram trace on screen shows whether the signal is being picked up cleanly; an irregular waveform means the number should not be trusted and the reading is worth repeating. Alarm limits are adjustable from 50 to 100 for SpO₂ and 50 to 130 for pulse rate, so the unit can sound a warning if you drop below the threshold your doctor has set. It runs on two AAA batteries, switches off automatically when the finger is removed, and at around 50 g it is light enough to keep in a bag permanently. For an accurate result keep the hand still and warm and make sure the finger is free of nail polish. A pulse oximeter does not diagnose; discuss the readings with your doctor.
