Description
An ankle stabiliser limits sideways rolling of the ankle in order to prevent sprains and to support injured ligaments. The rigid stays running along the lateral and medial ligament lines give noticeably more stability than a plain elastic sleeve. The lace and strap system lets you set the tightness to suit you, and it should be readjusted as swelling goes down. It is used on medical advice for ankle sprains, lateral ligament strain and swelling, and is sometimes chosen for the transition period after a cast. Wear it while you are active and take it off at night — continuous use can weaken the supporting muscles. It fits inside a shoe, though a wider, lace-up shoe is more comfortable since slim styles can feel tight with the brace in place.
